Jury Trial 2
I just completed my second jury trial.
My client was found guilty of a lesser charge. The orriginal charge was aggravated second degree battery and the jury found him guilty of aggravated battery, thus cutting down his exposure from up to 15 years to up to 10 years. I consider it a modest success.
Apparantly I get really really nervous at jury trial. The court clerk said I was shaking all day. I don't remember it that way, but he is probably right. Maybe it won't be so bad next time, but I doubt it. It is kind of difficult, working against a prosecutor that probably tried over 100 trials when he worked for probably no more than a few years in New Orleans.
